Weekly Wrap Up

Dear families, it has been a short week, however, there has been plenty of rich learning happening across the school.

As part of their learning about Reconciliation, Year 5 classes visited Warriparinga, a significant site for the Kaurna Aboriginal Community. The Kaurna words Warri Parri mean โ€œwindy place by the river.โ€ Following this experience, Year 5 students are now writing feature articles about Reconciliation, which they will share at our next assembly.

On Thursday, Year 5 students began their learning about levels of government through a series of authentic civics experiences. This included a visit from Louise Miller-Frost and Senator Charlotte Walker, the youngest Senator elected in Australian history at just 22 years of age. Louise was kept on her toes by students who asked thoughtful questions and showed great curiosity about how democracy works. This will be followed by a visit to State Parliament with local MP Sarah Andrews, and a mock council meeting at the Holdfast Bay Council Chambers with Mayor Amanda Wilson.

At our Tirntu Learning Hub assembly, the Community Spirit Awards are one way we celebrate students who demonstrate our school values. At this weekโ€™s assembly, three Community Spirit Awards were presented to Eva, Koa, and Olivia. Congratulations, girls!

Enjoy the weekend.

Warm Regards Rebecca

Brighton Proud hats on

We had our Brighton Proud hats on recently when three old scholars from 2025, presented at the Partnership Day in front of 70 leaders from local preschools, primary and secondary schools. They shared the impact of the learning they did in 2025 through the Learning Expedition Project. They were articulate and proud about how the opportunities provided to them in Year 6 developed their stronger character, academic progress and sense of community wider than their own.

Year 6 Business Expo

The Year 6s students have been working hard on their small pop-up businesses for the Business Expo on Monday Week 10. Their visit to the Central Market helped to refine their business plan, including best decisions about impactful advertising and helped to code switch from students to small business owners. The products include cakes, muffins, cookies, games, jewellery and small trinkets. The afternoon on Monday week 10 from 3.10-4.30pm will be an exciting time not just for the Year 6s but for our whole school community. We hope you can join us!
