Weekly wrap up
What a fabulous week of learning at Brighton! Across the school students were buzzing with active learning and brimming with pride when sharing.
* In Wara Learning Hub, the Foundation children new to the school, have continued to settle in well and have met their Year 6 buddies. The Year Ones welcomed a Year 2 class, to view and provide feedback on the Year Ones problem solving task “amazing bags and balls”. The level of Mathematics vocabulary being used by the Year One and Twos was fabulous!
*Across the Yarlu Learning Hub students have been using thinking routines to help students develop deeper thinking and make their learning visible. These routines support curiosity, reflection, and discussion. thinking routines are often used during STEM projects, maths, or inquiry units to help students think critically and share their ideas clearly.
*In Tirntu, the thought provoking and active problem solvers in LA 6 are building their skills, knowledge and expertise within the influences on animal adaptations. Their thoughts, opinions and knowledge are extraordinary for such young people. Year 5s are beginning their learning journey into democracy and what impact this has on our country. Their visits this term to State Parliament House, alongside local Member of Parliament, Sarah Andrews, will help to bring to life the processes of decision making within the state.
This week I had the privilege of attending the MIniFest Performance at Paringa Park Primary School. This fantastic event involved Year 3/4 choirs from across four primary schools, coming together and performing for and with each other. Our Signing Choir was also part of this great event. The Brighton performance of ‘I am Australian’ was both heart-warming and outstanding. I congratulate Janet and Kylee, as well as our Year 6 Music Leaders, for supporting students to perform at such a high degree.
Have a fabulous weekend!
See you all next week!
