Weekly Wrap Up

Dear Families, what a wonderful way to wrap up Term 2! Our school community enjoyed an exciting and memorable final week filled with creativity, performance, and giving back.

Our Year 6 students impressed everyone at the Creative Commerce Convention, proudly showcasing the businesses they developed throughout the term. Despite the rainy weather, the event was a huge success, with families turning out to support our young entrepreneurs.

Our talented students also took to the stage, with the Year 2 Musical delighting audiences and our Junior Choir and Signing Choir delivering outstanding performances at the Holdfast Minifest. We are so proud of the confidence, teamwork, and dedication shown by all of our performers.

We finished the term on a fun note with PJ Day, where students and staff came to school in their favourite pyjamas to raise money for the Year 6 Student Council's Positive Impact Project. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this worthwhile initiative.

It has been a fantastic end to a successful and rewarding term. We wish all of our students, families, and staff a safe, happy, and restful holiday break, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 3!

Warm Regards, Rebecca

Year 2 Musical -The Bee

What a wonderful performance our Year 2 students delivered in The Bee at the Hopgood Theatre!

After weeks of rehearsing songs, learning lines, perfecting actions, and working together as a team, our young performers took to the stage with confidence, enthusiasm, and big smiles. They captivated the audience with their energy, creativity, and growing performance skills, making the production a memorable experience for everyone in attendance.

This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our Year 2 students, the commitment of their teachers and support staff, and the encouragement of our families. We are incredibly proud of every student for embracing the challenge, supporting one another, and performing with such confidence.

A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who worked behind the scenes to make The Bee such a memorable success. We extend our sincere appreciation to our Music Teacher, Janet, for her dedication and expertise in preparing our students musically; our Primary Arts Teacher, Rachel, for inspiring confidence and bringing the performance to life; and our Learning Hub Leader, Donna, for her coordination and costumes skills. Thank you also to our Year 2 teaching team for their support, and to our staff, Phoebe, Jasmine, Kim, Karina, and Kirsty, whose help with costumes, makeup, and ensuring everything ran smoothly on the day was invaluable. Thank you to the parent volunteers for their help on the day and in the lead up to the performance. This production was truly a team effort, and we are so grateful for everyone's contribution to creating such a special experience for our students and families.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event such a success. The Bee was a fantastic celebration of learning, creativity, and collaboration, and one our Year 2 students will remember for years to come.

Sporting Excellence Across Term 2

District Netball Carnival
Our Year 5/6 boys' and girls' netball teams proudly represented Brighton at the District Netball Carnival. A big thank you to coaches Kate Stanbury, who led the girls' team, and Ali Casement, who coached the boys. Both teams showed fantastic sportsmanship and determination throughout the day, with the boys finishing the carnival undefeated. Congratulations to Sophia and Archie, who were selected for further district trials. An extra congratulations to Archie, who earned selection in the South West District Team.

District Cross Country
Brighton had an impressive 33 students compete at the District Cross Country Carnival under the supervision of Marek Bendyk. Every runner demonstrated resilience and determination, contributing to a fantastic team performance. Congratulations to Lexie, Zachary, Zoe, and Emilia who were selected to represent the South West District Team. Brighton also achieved an outstanding 4th place overall in the Large School division, finishing behind St Peters, Westminster, and McAuley.

Year 3/4 NRL Tackle Rugby Carnival
A huge turnout of 68 students across 7 teams represented Brighton in the Year 3/4 NRL Tackle Rugby Carnival. The day was made even more special with the support of our dedicated Year 6 Junior Coaches, who did a fantastic job leading and encouraging our younger players.

Year 5/6 NRL Tackle Rugby
Our Year 5/6 students continued the rugby action with 79 students across 8 teams competing against Warradale Primary School. It was a great display of teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship, with all students representing Brighton with pride.

District Soccer Carnival
Unfortunately, the District Soccer Carnival was cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.

Looking Ahead to Term 3
There is plenty to look forward to in another busy term of school sport! Students will have opportunities to compete in: Basketball, Athletics, Year 3/4 Tag Rugby, Year 5/6 Tag Rugby and theTigers Cup AFL 9s.

Creative Commerce Convention a Great Success!

Despite the rainy weather, our Creative Commerce Convention (CCC) went ahead, with activities relocated indoors, and what a fantastic afternoon it was!

We were thrilled to see such a wonderful turnout from our community, with families and former students coming along to support our Year 6 entrepreneurs. Throughout the term, students have worked hard to develop their own businesses—creating products, managing budgets, designing marketing campaigns, and building valuable entrepreneurial skills.

The convention gave students the opportunity to showcase their creativity, confidence, and teamwork in a real-world setting. From the vibrant stalls to the enthusiastic customers, the event was filled with energy, innovation, and community spirit.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, supported our students, and helped make the afternoon such a success. We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 students for their hard work, resilience, and enthusiasm, especially as they adapted so well to the change in venue due to the weather.

Bravo Brighton string students!

An all day String Workshop held at Brighton Secondary, Wednesday week 9 in the Performance Auditorium. 90 students from surrounding primary schools in the area attended.

Students worked very hard & produced a concert at the end of the day for parents & friends which spectacular.

The Brighton Sinfonia String Ensemble (yrs 7 - 10) came in & performed to our students which demonstrated the music pathway towards high school.

It was a fabulous day with the students who were well prepared, willing to try new things & happy to share ideas & engage in discussions both musically & socially.

Bravo Brighton PS string students!

"Oh, the places you'll go...".....hopefully to BPS annual Quiz Night!

Yup, it’s baaacck! And after 2 sold-out years, we would suggest locking in your
table before the story ends.

This year's theme? Book Week!

Which means you have full permission to dust off your favourite childhood
character, finally wear that Where's Wally costume you've somehow kept
for years, or raid the op shop the day before like the rest of us.

Expect trivia, laughs, fierce debates over answers that are definitely right
(until they're not!), and the kind of friendly competition that may have
you questioning your choice of teammates.

The skinny:

  • Saturday, 22nd August
  • School hall
  • Doors open: 6.30pm
  • Quiz starts: 7pm sharp

A few important chapters:

  • Adults only (once upon a time, parents had a night out too)
  • BYO food and drinks - liquor license (in case you’re like the hungry caterpillar!)
  • Bring some coins or your card for games throughout the night, including the legendary Coin Slide.
  • Tickets $10 per person or $100 for a table of 10.
  • Book via Qkr! under Parents & Friends Events and Sales.

We're also on the hunt for Silent Auction prizes. If you or your business
can (pretty please!) donate a voucher, experience, bottle of wine or
another fabulous prize, we would be super grateful.

Every donation helps write a sweet next chapter for our school
community.

Email [email protected] if you would like to contribute.

PS: You don't need to be a Brighton Primary family to join us. Just bring
your best trivia team, a healthy level of confidence, and someone who
knows at least a little bit about sport, music and random facts.

The End.
