Weekly Wrap Up

Dear Families, what a fantastic week of learning and connection at Brighton! Our Wara Learning Hub Assembly was a celebration of student growth and achievement. It was fantastic to see our littlest learners confidently sharing their learning with a large audience of family members so early in the year.

We also came together for our Student Leadership Assembly, where we acknowledged the courage and commitment of students who put themselves forward to lead in 2026. We are so proud of all who applied, leadership begins with stepping up, and that bravery deserves recognition. Congratulations to our newly appointed leaders who will help shape our school community this year.

To top off the week, our Year 6 students participated in the first 2026 Sports Carnival, Beach Volleyball, at Glenelg beach. Students encouraged one another, demonstrated great sportsmanship and embraced the fun of friendly competition in the sunshine.

A big thank you to our staff and families for your continued support. It’s been another week full of opportunity, celebration and community at Brighton!

Warm Regards, Rebecca

Leading the way together

What a wonderful celebration of leadership at our Student Leadership Assembly this week!

Our Year 1 students began the assembly with a beautiful Acknowledgement of Country in Kaurna, honouring the traditional custodians of the land on which we learn and grow. They chanted with such confidence and respect, a powerful reminder that leadership begins at every age.

The assembly was a true celebration of student voice and action. We recognised our 2026 Student Leaders and the courage of all students who put themselves forward for leadership roles. Taking that brave step to apply is leadership in itself, and we are proud of every student who chose to have a go.

Throughout the assembly, we reflected on what it means to lead in our community – listening to others, standing up for what matters, and turning ideas into action. Our student leaders are ready to make a positive difference, and we look forward to seeing the many ways they will contribute to our school community this year.

A fantastic start to a year of strong student voice and meaningful action!

Allergy aware

At Brighton Primary School, the safety and wellbeing of all students—including those with anaphylactic allergies—is a shared responsibility among families and staff.

To keep all students safe, we ask:

Families of children with allergies:

  • Provide a current medical action plan and any required medication to the school.
  • Notify us of any changes in your child’s allergy or medication.
  • Send food only from home for your child and remind them not to share food.
  • Work with staff to ensure safety during events like excursions and class parties.

Families of children without allergies:

  • Please avoid sending foods to school that may trigger life-threatening allergic reactions (such as nuts).
  • Remind your child not to share food and to be supportive and understanding of classmates with allergies.
  • Encourage your child to follow all safety guidelines shared by staff.

Our staff are trained to respond to emergencies and regularly check medical equipment. Keeping all students safe is a community effort. Please contact the school if you need more information or support.

Wara celebration of learning

The first Wara Hub Assembly (Foundation/Year 1) on Wednesday was a real treat for all who attended. It was heart warming to witness our newest Foundation children speaking and performing to a crowd whilst our 'big' Year 1 Hub Student Leaders hosted their first assembly with pride and excellence. We appreciated the strong community support with encouraging smiles and no spare seats - thanks to all the families who attended! There was a strong theme of music and creativity in the performances, with students sharing songs for different purposes. All of the Foundation children performed a song they had made up to inform people about growth mindsets, and another class taught us an action song requiring them to cross their midline and give their brain break. The finale involved all Foundation and Year 1 students signing and signing the Rainbow song to show their Auslan skills.

Wara Hub Assemblies are 2.30pm on Wednesdays of week 5 and 10 - pop the dates in your diary to join us next time
