Hi, my name is Chris Hansen and I am the Autism Inclusion Teacher at Brighton. I feel it is important to keep you, our BPS community, informed of the work we are doing in the Autism/Neurodiversity space.

I am employed one day per week in this role. It is a state government initiative to help address the needs of neurodiverse students in our public schools. 

The time allocated for this role will be split to allow me to meet with individual teachers to plan support strategies for our students who have an Autism diagnosis. Strategies include modifying learning programs, developing emotional regulation visuals and strategies and providing quiet spaces and fidget toys in support of students self regulating emotions.

I will use the BPS news to keep you informed of the continued work we are doing in this space.
