STEM

Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics
STEM is an important element of the learning at Brighton. The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) framework is a pedagogy that puts connection and action at the centre in a way that:
- Connects students’ interdisciplinary learning
- Provides purpose for learning
- Involves an action to solve a community issue
- Connects students with industry partnerships
Educators guide students through an engineering design process that promotes a problem based learning framework. Questions form the basis of the research phase and these are developed collaboratively with students. The industry partnership connects in through all phases of the design process. The final phase, presenting solutions to the problem, takes place in a panel presentation format to the industry partners as well as members of the school community.
