Welcoming and Inclusive

Our school provides a welcoming and inclusive environment where children are empowered to become confident life long learners who strive for excellence with  a strong sense of belonging.

Together we foster values and dispositions that encourage our children to make a positive contribution and thrive in our global society.

Our school values of respect, empathy, inclusivity and excellence underpin everything we do at Brighton.

Our agreed learning dispositions; we are thinkers, we are curious, we are balanced, we are resilient, we are communicators and we are responsible, provide a focus for our teaching and learning. This provides a common language across our school to talk about what it means to do ‘good learning’.

Our Learner Dispositions

We are
Thinkers.

We can think creatively, critically, logically and reflectively to solve problems. We think about how we think and we use strategies to make our thinking visible to others. We persevere at point of challenge. We are open minded.

We are
Curious.

Being curious is how we learn about ourselves and the world. We ask questions, explore possibilities and research information.

We are
Communicators.

We can communicate confidently in multiple ways and for different purposes. We listen to understand what others communicate to us. We adapt our communication style to suit the audience. We collaborate with others to make connections, achieve our goals and to solve problems.

We are
Balanced.

We understand the importance of having an active body and active mind to achieve fulfilment and wellbeing for ourselves and others.

We are
Resilient.

We bounce back when faced with a challenge, disappointment or failure.

We are
Responsible.

We can learn independently. We take responsibility for our learning, wellbeing and behaviour. We manage our emotions. We can set and work towards personal goals.
