Weekly Wrap Up
Dear Families, this week, our Year 3–5 Student Hub Leaders and Year 6 Student Council Leaders had the exciting opportunity to work alongside Contemporary Aboriginal artist Scott Rathman to co-design a mural for the northern end of Tarni Warra.
Students shared ideas, stories and symbols that reflect our school values, community and what makes Brighton special Through this collaborative process, they gained valuable insights into Aboriginal culture and the role of art in storytelling.
We are excited to see the mural come to life and thank Scott for sharing his knowledge, creativity and expertise with our student leaders.
This project forms part of the Student Council Leaders’ Positive Impact Project. The initiative encourages student leaders to make a meaningful contribution to our school and leave a lasting legacy for future students. The mural will serve as a lasting reminder of student voice, leadership and our commitment to reconciliation.
A reminder that tomorrow is a Student Free Day. Our staff are learners too, and tomorrow our team will be engaging in professional learning focused on the Zones of Regulation and strengthening our knowledge of Kaurna culture and language. We are fortunate to have Uncle Tamaru guide us on a walk through Warriparinga, where we will deepen our understanding of the cultural significance of this important local site.
Enjoy the long weekend.
Warm Regards, Rebecca
