Dear families, it has been a short week, however, there has been plenty of rich learning happening across the school.

As part of their learning about Reconciliation, Year 5 classes visited Warriparinga, a significant site for the Kaurna Aboriginal Community. The Kaurna words Warri Parri mean “windy place by the river.” Following this experience, Year 5 students are now writing feature articles about Reconciliation, which they will share at our next assembly.

On Thursday, Year 5 students began their learning about levels of government through a series of authentic civics experiences. This included a visit from Louise Miller-Frost and Senator Charlotte Walker, the youngest Senator elected in Australian history at just 22 years of age. Louise was kept on her toes by students who asked thoughtful questions and showed great curiosity about how democracy works. This will be followed by a visit to State Parliament with local MP Sarah Andrews, and a mock council meeting at the Holdfast Bay Council Chambers with Mayor Amanda Wilson.

At our Tirntu Learning Hub assembly, the Community Spirit Awards are one way we celebrate students who demonstrate our school values. At this week’s assembly, three Community Spirit Awards were presented to Eva, Koa, and Olivia. Congratulations, girls!
