Dear Families, Student Learning Forums have continued throughout this term and remain a valuable opportunity for school leaders to hear directly from students. Most weeks, leaders meet with small groups of students to discuss what they are learning, their strengths, the challenges they are working through, and the goals they are focusing on to improve their learning. Parents are notified via email when their child has participated in a forum and receive a brief summary of the discussion. These forums continue to be a highlight of the leadership team’s week, providing authentic insights into students’ learning experiences. Common themes emerging from these conversations include the positive impact of our strong focus on school values, students’ positive dispositions towards learning, their growth mindset, and their willingness to persevere when faced with challenges.

Our Staff Are Learners Too!

While students enjoyed a day away from school on Monday, our staff came together for a day of professional learning to continue building their knowledge and skills. At our recent Student Free Day, teachers explored the South Australian Curriculum, with a focus on designing learning experiences that help students develop positive learner dispositions such as resilience, curiosity and perseverance.

Our Student Support Officers (SSOs) worked alongside our Inclusive Educator to deepen their understanding of how best to support students with autism, while our Bilingual Support Officers (BSSOs) participated in specialised learning about the impact of language deprivation and strategies to strengthen language development for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.

Staff also continued to develop their understanding of Aboriginal culture by learning alongside Uncle Tamaru. A highlight of the day was a walking tour of Kingston Park, where staff learned about the cultural significance of the area, deepening their understanding of the rich history, stories and ongoing connection that Aboriginal peoples have with Country.

Ongoing professional learning is an important part of our commitment to ensuring every student benefits from high quality teaching, informed support and inclusive practices. We are proud to be a school where learning is valued, for our students and our staff alike.
