Weekly Wrap Up
Dear Families, Our Year 5 students have been busy preparing their applications for the 2027 Student Leadership roles. This process has provided a wonderful opportunity for students to reflect on their experiences, strengths and the ways they have contributed to our school community.
As part of the application process, students have been learning how to write a formal letter that responds to the specific criteria of each leadership position. They have been encouraged to make meaningful connections between their own experiences, the ways they have managed different situations and the qualities and responsibilities required of a student leader.
We are looking forward to reading the applications and learning more about each student’s leadership aspirations. We know that shortlisting applicants will be a challenging task, given the high standard of applications and the many wonderful qualities our Year 5 students bring to leadership.
This year, students who are shortlisted will have the opportunity to present a leadership pitch to their peers, sharing why they believe they would be the best person for their chosen role. This will be an exciting opportunity for students to demonstrate their confidence, communication skills and leadership vision.
The 2027 Student Leaders will be announced early in Term 4, allowing a valuable handover period between our current and incoming student leaders. Brighton Secondary School Leaders will also facilitate a dedicated Leadership Day, supporting our new leaders to develop their skills and confidence as they prepare for their roles in 2027.
We wish all of our Year 5 students the very best with their applications. We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, commitment and leadership potential they are already demonstrating.
A reminder, Friday 11 September, is a school closure.
Enjoy the weekend.
Warm Regards, Rebecca
