Welcome to Kirsten -CDE leader
I’m excited to introduce myself as the new Catharine! It’s an honour to join your community as Assistant Principal at Brighton Primary School and Centre of Deaf Education. This team and community so committed to the success and wellbeing of every student is well known and respected near and far.
I’ve worked in education for over 7 years in roles including classroom teaching, specialist Deaf education and LOTE Auslan, and supporting diverse learning needs in diverse ways. These experiences have taught me that strong relationships, clear communication, and inclusive practice are key to helping students thrive.
In my role, I’ll be working closely with you, families, staff and students to:
· Support high-quality teaching and learning
· Continue strong home–school partnerships
· Promote inclusion, wellbeing, and student voice
· Celebrate the achievements and strengths of every child
A little about me:
· Favourite drink: Hot chocolate – oat milk please!
· Hobbies: Reading, beach swims, and talking.
· Fun fact: I once learned Auslan as my “third language” and it changed my whole career path.
Please know my door is always open — whether you’d like to share a success, ask a question, or simply say hello. I’m looking forward to meeting you at school events, in the yard, and during classroom visits. Together, I know we can make the rest of 2025 a time full of learning and laughter.
