Year 5 Excursion to Townsend House

Our Year 5 students enjoyed an excursion to Townsend House in Brighton, where they explored local history and learned about inclusive education for students who were deaf and blind in the 1800’s.
Throughout the visit, students discovered how education has evolved over time and gained a deeper understanding of the experiences and challenges of people who were deaf and hard of hearing or blind. They also explored the importance of accessibility and creating inclusive learning environments where everyone feels valued and supported.
The excursion encouraged students to develop empathy and reflect on how we can make our school and wider community more inclusive for everyone. It was a valuable opportunity to connect our learning with local history while celebrating the importance of respect and inclusivity which align with our school values here at Brighton Primary School.
